can anybody help me out identifying these little fella's:

and

Thanks.

Fish number one is Danio margaritatus, formerly known as Microrasbora sp. "galaxy".

As for the second fish it could be a killifish of some sort, but I'm no expert in these fish.

thanks pleccy, some sort of livebearer huh.

www.fishbase.org might be a good place to look.

The second one definitely looks like some type of Killi, not a livebearer.

some killifish fall into the family Poeciliidae (such as swordtails), Heterandria formosa is one of those - some killifish are livebearers. Maybe they are mis-appropriately catagorised or not true killi's but there ya go.

yeah i'd have guessed killi as well but having never kept a killi before i can't give any more species detail than that.

i was just doing some more research on the killi i mentioned above and found this interesting article: The fertilized eggs grow within the female until they hatch, and the young are released free swimming. Heterandria Formosa have a unique breeding strategy even among livebearers. Rather than all the young being released at once, as many as 40 fry are released over a 10 to 14 day period, but occasionally over a longer period.

so they are egg bearing livebearers  ,they are also the 7th smallest fish in the world - i want some

seconed look's like a lamp eye of some sort.

Had loads fo Heterandria Formosa at the liveberarer auction on sunday (in nottinham) and they was cheep as well.

yup we'r getting somewhere now i think.

Yes, but the one in your picture looks more like a true 'Killi'. If you really want to get technical, all livebearers (Poeciliidae) are Killies...I'm guessing egg-layer. I could be wrong. You should post this pic in the Killifish forum...

Well i dont know what u know about the formosa but we had both the common and the gold morph.

Their lovely little fish but their not the smallest livebearer.

Under the genus Poeciliidae you do have many livebearers and yes killi's too.
It mean's topminnows as a general translation but their are many 100's of fish in this genus.

out of interest what is the smallest livebearer?

Also when and where is the next livebearer auction?
