I love the look of these but I've already got 5 Pearl Danio's. The pearls are incredibly active, forever moving. And at feeding time they're like the old pirahna tank pepperami advert.

Cockatoo Apisto might be an option:

he might like the cockatoo cichlid. any fish that get along w/ them? maybe rare and exotic? money isnt a problem 4 him, hes got like $1000 in his wallet.

Rare and exotic usually means high maintenance - or predatory, which won't work with the other fish you intend to add. Have a look through the species index and see if anything catches your eye, if so post up here and someone will tell you if its compatible.

all that seems to catch my eye is the kribs. theyre such good parents... but hes 2 "busy" to look at a pic of 1. stupid brothers.

Fancy guppies. Small, colorful, and an immense color variety so you can fully stock a 20 gallon and never have two alike.

he says guppies r stupid. he wants something they hav in stores, but wont be too common, or hav too many babies, 4 that matter.

could he hav say guppies, mollies, platies, and swordtails in the same tank, so he coukd hav a variety of small colorful fish?

Basslet goodeid or Orangetailed goodeid? They look cool but they are livebearers and not likely will overpopulated your tank. Basslet goodeid looks like mini largemouth bass. They are slow to reproduce so they are perfect livebearer for your brother.

But goodeid are not good community fishes as they will nipping other fishes fins.

What's cool is that their parents will not eat their own fry if properly fed.

Both basslet and orangetail are usually find in aquabid.
