That's not really the point though- the Botia has an adult size of about 5" and is social, the hillstream isn't exactly the ideal candidate for a tropical tank.

You say huge waste producer, but did you actually read my last post? There is nothing to prove that fact, and considering most of the ammonia comes from a fish breathing where does this statement originate from? Plecos eat algae which is a low concentration food, which means they must eat a lot of it for there to be a considerable amount of ammonia, they can poo as much as they wish, but does that mean that the poo is of a high ammonia concentration?

lol, plecs eat all sorts, flake, pellets, catfish pellets, bloodworm, and lots more, they produce lots of waste, have u ever kept them? i have and bred them for a long time, they crap all over the pleace, 2 plecs affected my levels so much in a well understocked tank i had, Thats enough proof for me....

That tank is well overstocked, and the bristlnose WILL be producing too much waste.

Fair comment regarding the pellets, Yeah, I have kept them, kept a few bristlenoses, I don't find them to be that much of a waste producer to be honest. to be fair to the OP, he is trying to get it re-homed.

Regarding the comment about the bettas and 5 gallons, I don't recall ever saying that.
