Fish Bully-ing

i'd suggest that the breeding net is only a short term solution, tigers are active fish and breeding nets arent exactly roomy. A better idea would be getting more than 2 barbs to dissipate the aggression a bit more

At the moment, IMO a breeding net will act as as a temporary tank division. I have no idea how big the nets are, but hopefully she won't do it again. But you'll have to talk to an expert :D

Well if anyone was interested in how everything's been going with my problem here here's an update:

Not too long after my last post in this topic I bought a female Platy and named her Sunshine (she has a bright yellow core which gradually turns into a orange glow about her body). When I added her, my Silver Molly (Yin) never paid much attention to Sunshine, she did whatever she ccould to avoid her. Then Yin would TRY to dominate her too but Sunshine never really gave in much NOR did she fight back which is good. However, about 5 days after introducing Sunshine, Yin developed Pop Eye...WHILE I was AWAY at school. What my FAMILY DID was separate Yin into a big ol' jar and cleaned A TON of the water in the tank so the other fish wouldn't get contaminated. They didn't really do things right but that's okay. While in the jar, however, Yin jumped out, landed on the floor and basically dried out and died there =/ It was a little sad but it DID solve my problem with the bullying ^^ lol I know that's a harsh way to think but it's true.

Well anyway, after that, my Black Molly (Yang) and Sunshine became best of friends. It's been a while now where it's just been them two in the tank alone and after finding some fry there I realize NOW that Yang is MALE x_x But, I didn't think Platys and Mollies could breed together and produce fry???? Can they?

Yeh, I know what you mean. I have a molly that's a very big bully. I was ready to take her back to the lfs -- but didn't want others to have to deal with her either. She's constantly harassing the other female who is a real sweetie.

Today I took her out of the 20G and put her in a 5 gallon all to herself. You should see the other molly now (the sweet one) -- happy as a clam -- swimming all over the place out in the open instead of hiding in the cave.

This is the second female molly I've had that's been a total wench towards other fish. I thought they were peaceful....

Yeah, exactly, I thought they were supposed to be a peaceful fish...and the FEMALES? If a peaceful fish were to turn aggressive I would think it would be the male, not females. Ah well :p
