Fish And Ph Levels

Hi there people. Ive got a new tank being delivered next sunday and i already have clown loach ,ruby shark and a pleco in my current tank. I live in a hard water area so i assumed that i would be able to introduce new fish with ph levels of 7.5 to 8.5 into my new tank, the fish i currently have have a ph level up to 7.5. Ive been told that the high ph fish would settle into my new tank quite well due to the hard water in my area, but also been told that i would need to get rid of my current fish. I read up on a site this morning that you generally dont need to change ph levels as fish of similar tollerances will adapt. Help, what can i do please?

Having had a very quick Google, it would appear 7.5 seems to come up as the highest level tolerated by these fish.

Whether or not they adapt well to 8.5 I wouldn't like to say either way.

How big is your new tank? How many clown loaches do you have?

Edit: having just reread your post, it doesn't read well and I can't work out what you're asking.

Are you asking if the loach, plec and shark will adapt to 8.5, or do you mean will any other fish you buy adapt to 8.5?

I wouldn't go messing with the ph or seek out high ph tolerant fish. 7.5 is probably the average tap water reading for many of us.

I currently have two clown loach and the new tank is 300ltr. I did a ph test earlier and my current tank came up 7.4. Im just wondering if id be able to put hard water fish with what i have at the mo, im not one to get rid of fish for the sake of getting new ones. So if im not able to mix them then il stick with what i have. The reasons for wanting to mix is me and my girlfriend wanted to put bigger more colourful fish in the new tank. But ive spent the last two weeks trawling the net trying to find such fish which match the ph tollerrance of my current fish and have not had much look.

Sorry i was asking if the new fish would be ok in a tank with the ph level at 7.4.

7.4 is fine for most fish - it really depends on what you want to add, some are pickier than others.

Clown loaches should be in groups of 6+ in tanks at least 6ft long.

Ah, i wasent made made aware of this when i set up my first tank. Ive had my loaches now for about a year and a half. I was looking at adding things like gold rams, electric blue rams, things like that.mjust something fair sized and colourful.

Get rid of the clowns asap they do not belong as couple in a 300l sorry
