First Spawn

I sort of agree with catherine, Veiltails generally aren't wanted, and pet store bettas aren't the bettas to breed because of the age,and their lines. This is assuming you own pet store bettas. And also, when you say young-are you sure they are young? If you bought them at a store they are probably around 10 months old, which is generally not young.

No! When I bought Penny she was to small to eat pellets! When I bought You Beta he was not that big either!

I am almost sure they are young.

Ok, so they are young. But you still dont know any of the history in them, the fry will still be not of that good quality and it will be hard to find them homes.
What are you going to do with them all? Give them to pet stores or sell them yourself?
Even top quality breeders who sell crowntails and rarer tail types find it difficult to sell the fry, so a VT breeder would find it even harder and then you will just be adding to all the bettas in cups if they have to go to a petstore.

They are not going to be VT fry. They will be comb tails and I am contacting my new and clean pet store about taking them.

All of them? Are you aware they can have up to 500 fry? Ok its not very common to have that many but it can happen, and I cant see a pet store willing to take 500 fry. Can you?

 I know they can have up to 500 fry. I have been reading and I do know VT and combtails are hard to find! I am contacting pet stores about it soon

You really will have a problem getting rid of that many. A lot of stores won't take them and if they do, they won't give you much for them.

Ok, and what will you do if you cant get a petstore to take them? Not breed them or will it be too late by then as you would have already spawned going against all the advice from people that have bred successfully?

I don't really care about the money. I am not so much in this for the profit O.K.

what if you can't find homes for them? Are you prepared to keep or possibly cull hundreds of bettas? I know a lot of pet stores won't take bettas unless you provide cups and food for all of them as well. Can you do that?

Well... you are going to breed 2 fish that were bought at a store. You know absolutly NOTHING about the history of them and are going by 'they are young as they were smallish when I bought them' They are going to produce fry that nobody really wants. There is a big chance the pet stores will not take them as they already have somone giving them the bettas that they already are selling. Its not like its anything different that the store would be willing to accept as its a 'mutt' of a fish.
Why dont you get 2 quality bettas and breed them?
