Fire Eel Tank Mate Options

what are people putting with their fire eel's these days? I hear angels and fish large/similiar in size are okay..

I'm currently in the proccess of moving my fire eel..and rearranging my setups.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fire eel's grow very large,so a big tank is in order....well over two feet in length is not uncommon..

hoping that you know the potential size of these fish theres a huge list of fish you can keep with them

They are my favourite fish and I have kept them with everything from tinfoils to oscars, to catfish, plecs bichirs basically anything that is too big to fit in their huge mouths. see them yawn and you will see how big that mouth goes

But f you get a settled one that feeds there ain;t many better fish, they will hand feedand become the centre piece of any tank very quickly

Hi, I have a 10inch fire eel. He is the most friendly fish I have ever had. at the moment he is in a tank with angel fish, silver sharks and Evan goldfish. They all get along great and everything eats from my hands. They are great. None has never argued with anything. Feel free to pm me. George

Hi ya'll..ya I haven't measured him in quite some time..I'll have to post a picture..Presently he's sitting in my 55..(my baby tank)...as I got him when he was very small..and I will be moving him into my 180 gallon once i rearrange some fish ect...

I'm 100% aware of the size he can become..and that is totally okay with me..as he's a lifelong resident and I will accomodate him.

All this of course is being done while my uncle, who owns his own contracting business..we are gonig to be building a 400-ish gallon plywood tank for my basement. I'll keep posted
