Finrot Back Again Grrrrrrrrrrrr

I suppose it is down to personal preference and I can understand why you wouldn't want to use it again after losing your Betta. :sad:
I rescued a Betta who had barely any fins left after being ripped to shreds by Zebra Danios. Treated him for a week with Melafix/Pimafix combination and his fins grew back. I also used it on another Betta who had gone through a similar thing with no problems.
At the end of the day, what works for one may not work for another. Sorry you lost your little fella though Loraxchick.

Just a quick update;

I haven't changed the tank's water for 3 days and the finrot seems to have halted, for now. I came down yesterday to find my male VT building a bubble nest and this morning, he has expanded that to half the size of his tank. I haven't seen a bubble nest for 2 and a half weeks from him, so hoping this is a good sign, fingers crossed :good:

On some weaker fish, tail rot will set in every time another fish bites its fin. Its like gangreen to a fish. Ask your pet store if they do free master water tests so you can bring in a sample too. Its probably something easily correctable. I have a green barb with tail rot right now and needless to say he is not doing so well. I have seen him eat a little though which is a good sign.
