First I will start by saying that if you think this should be moved to old world cichlids go ahead. Anyway earlier today well yesterday now I guess, anyway I got a nice pair of neolamprologus brevis!!! Here's my first story with these, so they were in the bag acclimating temps to my tank, then it was time to slowly add water to acclimate them and I felt bad because the tank I got them from had like16 in a smallish tank with no shells so I put one of the shells I will be using in the tank. But they didn't use it. Then I had to put them in the tank (this was at about 5 pm)the smaller( which I'm hoping is female) slowly entered the shell and the Niger( hopefully male) just swam right into the tank. I watched them for like half an hour and the bigger one was exploring but the small one was still no where to be found I started to get nervus but thought to myself " just let them chill and they'll come out later". So I went to ear dinner spend time with family etc went back... Bigger one was in a shell, smaller one still no where to be found I started to get nervus. Went to shower eat dessert checked on them still not the small one, watched tv at midnight I used a flashlight and shined it on the edge of the shell so I could see the shadow of what was inside, did the shell it was in since the beginning and there it was!!!!! I had finally found it like 7-8 hours later LOL I thoughtbit had gotten stuck or something. Now if you don't mind I have a few questions.
1) so I have one that's like 2" and one that's like 1" are they most likely male female pair?
2) at first the male was in a different shell than the smaller one but I just checked and is now in the same one, I read that they do this when they breed could they already be spawning even though they weren't conditioned amd only had been in the tank for less that 24 hours?
3) would they eat gohst shrimp?
I will try to take some pictures whenever they come out of the shells. Thanks in advance for any provided answers. I also apologize for such a long post.

P.S. Feel free to share any of your experiences, tips, etc.
