Hi CFC,

Thanks so much for your reply!! Yes I was thinking that 15-20 ppm was low too and I am glad you could confirm that for me!! :D

I am originally from Michigan but moved here to Sweden a year ago...and when I started up my aquarium about 3 months ago I was told that Sweden was considered to have one of the highest quality of waters. I was told today that it is very soft water...(not sure what that means but I guess it's good). I was also told that in my area straight from the tap the ph level if 7.5. I am new to all of this NitrAte, NitrIte, Ammonia stuff...so I am not sure what means what...but I'm learning very quickly.

Yeah I was just on a website that said that commercial NitrAte test kits arn't very accurate. Something like if a test kit says 5 ppm-100ppm it's actually 22ppm-443ppm. I'm not sure if the brand I have is the best it's German and I'm not used to German brands. It cost me about 40US though so it better be good!!

At the aquarium place I went to today they had a variety of testing kits but most were single tests that were about 20 US each so I figured this one would be the best for me.

Next time I am at the aquarium store I will ask about AP and see what they say. Well I also thought my NitrAte was 0 for a moment because I didn't realize that your supposed to take the results straight away. After the test strip sat out for 5-10 mins the pinkish color turned white which is 0. Now I know though to take the results straight away.

Good thing you did another test....that would of been awful for your fish :-(

Thanks again
