Fellow Fish Keeper In Need Of Some Help.

Hi Jud :)

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Welcome to the forum Jud. If I set up a new tank and filter and cannot wait to cycle a tank, it happens, I will simply clean a well established filter in the new tank. It makes a bit of a mess with the solids that come from a new cleaning but inside of a week my new tank's filter seems to become completely cycled. The bacterial additive that I favor is one that I know is correct, it comes from a functional biological filter in an established tank. To me, that beats any bottled product every time.

Thanks for the welcome! Thanks for the redirect. I think I'll be needing a new validation email. I must have deleted it. Thank you in advance.

That is quite a good idea. I wish I had thought of that previously. However, I did think ahead and purchased a small sponge that I placed in my 10g tanks filter before leaving on vacation. I did travel back to my apartment to make a water change in both tanks and put a small amount of food in the 30g tank (no fish are in). Anyway, by the time I get back I will have a chem set and test tubes for more accurate measurements. I'll add the sponge from the other filter, which should have a relatively nice colony built up by now.
