favorite size / shape of aquarium???

My favorite is the 75 gallon something in the 48" long 18" wide and about 20" tall, I also like the form factor of the 40 gallon breader tanks 36 long, 18 wide, and 16 tall. Both these sizes give you a number of different fish you can keep but are not so large as to require much in the way of special consideration for their weight. Additionally, it is easier to find lighting and cover solutions for tanks 48" and shorter.

I don't like any tank that is less the 18" wide, it seems like the fish are squeezed between them and always orient themselves along the length. If I could, I would like to get a tank 48" x 24" x 18", but I have never seen one and right now I am not setup to build one.

It does depend though. A 75 is great for a community tank, or for dwarf Cichlids. I'll sing the praises of the 20 gallon though, long or standard, as it's good for my killies and small fish. And the 15 gallon is great if you build racks. You can stack 3 and work with them....

Yeah, but if you could replace your 15 gallons racks for 75 ones ?

Even at the same volume, species specific...

Wouldn't it be more awesome.... No ?

For me, no.
I have 2 75s now, and they are nice tanks. But if I were making changes, they would go, and 4 55s would take their space. I broke my only 55 in the move here.

I may receive some good sized Chromidotilapia kingsleyae in 2 weeks, and so I want the 75s now. But longterm, that's 8 feet of wall...
