Oh the horrid things I could do with a straight line like that.
Unfortunately, this is a family establishment, so good taste demands that I forbear. 
It's quite possible that what I find funny about Coupling has less to do with any overt comedy and more to do with, well, being British. Meaning to give no offense whatsoever, as there are undoubtedly characteristics of Americans that are positively side splitting when viewed from afar, but which are entirely invisible to Americans themselves. Its a "Fish don't know they're swimming" sort of thing.
And Jeff and Jane had me positively gasping with laughter on more than one occasion.
