Hi all.

I've got a Fluval Roma 90 tank. Yesterday I noticed that the lights (which are on a timer) hadn't come on. Having changed the bulbs it seems that the lighting unit itself is faulty - if I play around with the bulbs and push them in they'll come on but I have to do this every time I want to turn them on. This is a total pain and means that I can't use the timer.

Does anyone know what might be causing this and whether it's possible to fix it?

The lighting unit is sealed so it's difficult to see what's going on (and I'm not the most technically minded person) but I'd rather not have to spend £90 on a new lighting unit if I can help it - especially if it's something simple like a loose wire.

Many thanks
Jon

Not having any experience of that unit it sounds like either a loose connection or a faulty starter cap.

Do you have any photos of the unit?

I get this with my Roma 200 and your problem sounds like the same as mine which is the contact at the end of each tube. It seems that after some time they just stop making proper contact. I've taken the end bits apart a number of times and bent and reshaped the contacts which does fix the problem but it can return at any time.
