Fatty!

More feeding means more pics :D

First up, let's get an idea of how big the white ribbon eel is. I couldn't get him all in one, so the best I have is his front half followed by his tail half (but I think I missed some middle):

The snowflake was making an appearance and really seems to have got more gold on it in the last month or so.

The porky and trigger were hungry and feeding as one would expect:

And now for a guest appearance of my Lophiocharon sp frogfish. She was right at the front so I thought I would have a go at a couple of pictures. Her tank is a bit covered with algae these days (an achievement as the lights are seldom on). First up is the lure. It was broken and still hasn't fully mended (hence the kink in it).

Some detail of her back and the white patches that break up the black

And I always love how she places a hand-like fin up against the glass

And here she is in all her glory

And so we go back to the eel, who thought that the porky was dinner

And then looked mean while informing me that it might be a little hungry

The porky was not overly worried and happily posed for some close ups later on

Beautiful specimens....I'm assuming you're having gl with that white ribbon eel, I've only heard of disasters following the keeping of them, what kind of maintenance do you do on that tank?

I've had the eel for a year or two now, so yeah, good luck indeed. I did have a second one but it stopped eating (despite living in a feeder shrimp tank) and died.

As for maintenance, when the water level runs low I top up with RO water and when necessary I empty the skimmer cup and do water changes. Not a great deal really.

beautiful tank Andy, I would like a nice big FOWLR tank one day.

How big is the tank? Is it big enough for the trigger for life or will you have to re-home him or get a bigger tank?

He may have to be rehomed one day, but at 60x24 foot print and 18 high it will suffice for some time. The porky should end up larger and will probably need an upgrade somewhere down the line (trigger is a max size of about 30cm, the porky 50cm).

In all honesty I expect the full grown sizes to be somewhere around 8-10" for the trigger and a foot or just over for the porky, but by the time they get there I will have moved and have room for a larger SW FOWLR display. Mind you, if it is too large a tank it will certainly have sharks and rays rather than porkies and triggers...

really, didn't realise the porky's got that big, they are very very cool though :good:

could sharks and rays go in with the trigger and porky?

ah OK, my knowledge of either species goes about as far as 'oooh thats pretty, but gets far too big for any tank I'm likley to have'
