F3 P14

so sorry that they did not make it, fingers crossed for next time

arghhh seriously

tragic if thats the case!! but I;m sure you;ll crack it next time if this is true T1 :good:

Congrats on the birth :D. Shame it kept you away from the Meet. I was looking forward to seeing your bug!

the Internet is a very small place :good:

i was gutted i missed it to but the rays were more important at £1k per pup

but I'm sorry to say both died

i have been told that when the baby's are inside the female the fluid inside the female keep the yolk sac sterile

when the pups are born with the yolk sac the tank water poisons the pups as the are still feeding on it

the 1st one died at about 1pm the 2nd at about 11pm

it was so sad watching the female pushing them around to see if they were still alive

the only good thing is that now they are breeding i should have more pups in about 3 months

i was fairly sure they would die as the were 1-1.5 months premature but i tryed my hardest to help them changed my polyfilter which removes everything and do a 25% water change

i think the female was just a bit to young to have pups as shes only just over 2 years old and breeding age is normally around 2.5 years

Sorry to hear it. I would love to see pics of your next batch. Just curious, how do you know you are the first to have bred all those F# rays? Not trying to be rude or anything, just curious.

Don't see what the big deal is either way as far as them being the first F3 or not. It simply means he is the "first" person to breed the offspring, of the offspring, of the offspring of wild caught rays. While its obviously difficult to breed rays its not as if he broke new ground here. Just possibly the first of the next generation. Or would have been anyway. At any rate, nice looking rays. Wish I had the skill and resources to keep such cool fish. Good job and good luck with the next batch.

Yeah but who's to say they haven't already been bred by someone else is what I am asking...
