F A O Erised

OK. Just keep up with the water changes (read the bottle for the conditioner and work out exactly how much you need) and in a few weeks things should settle down.

Hope all the remaining fish do OK.

Phillip why have'nt you cycled your tank yet, that you where told to do about what over a week ago, and why did you get a betta when you where told not to.

well I don't blame him for not cycling the tank - that's happening now and is going to take a couple of months. However, lets emphasis the second point - don't get any more fish. You don't have room for any (I'm reffering to your post in the gourami section). Not even after the tank's cycled. You still won't have room.

well i have 3 gone there is only a few fish in ther now there is plenty of room when its cycled

If you go by inch per gallon, then you can only have 15 inch's. But personaly I would'nt put that much in for about 6 months after cycle and being it will take about 2-3 months in my first tank I had problems and too 6 months to cycle.

But anyway I agrea with everyone DO NOT GET ANYMORE FISH.

Have you acherly tested your water, do you know what your NitrIte, NitrAte and Ammonia levels are??????

Bettas your tank was OVERstocked not FULLY stocked. That means that, with the fish that have died, perhaps your tank is closer to being at the right stocking level. HOWEVER, unless your tank is UNDERstocked, you can't add any more fish even if some have died. What fish are left in there now? How many of each? Have we established that your tank is deffinately 15 gallons BTW?

mine tank has
2 platys
2 guppys
1 siamese flying fox
3 harlequin rasboras

HOW ABOUT A KRIB

Wait until your tank is cycled before considering adding anything else.

Have you bought a test kit so you know when that is?

Your tank is 15 gallons (right?) so forget the krib. It wouldn't get along with the guppies anyway.

Also, you are fully stocked. At most you could consider getting a few more rasboras (2 or 3) as they are a schooling fish so like to be kept in groups of 5-6. BUT, wait until the tank is cycled (that's when you have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrItes, nitrAtes below 40 - buy a test kit and do weekly water changes to keep nitrAtes down afterwards).

The siamese flying fox needs a bigger tank as it'll get to 6" and, in this small tank, on its own, it will get aggressive and may kill some of its tankmates. If it is truly a SIAMESE flying fox, it needs to be kept in a group and a lone one can become very aggressive. If, on the other hand, it's a flying fox, it needs to be kept alone but still needs a much bigger tank and will also get to 6". Could you post a clear picture (taken from the side) of this particular fish so I (or someone else) could identify it?
If you could return this fish to your LFS, you'd have more space for a few more fish besides the extra rasboras BUT nothing bigger than 3" at full size and nothing even remotely aggressive (kribs being aggressive enough so that you cannot keep them in there).

ok sos dont have a photo what would be good to get if i got rid of the flying fox
at the moment al my nitrates etc are quite low
however amnonia stays white and doesent change color .why?
