yeah, I'd expect with a ex600, a long over drilled spraybar and some flow reduction on the taps you will have great filtration

Yes, the green things can alter the flow rate.
Look on the Zoo-plus site again it's still cheaper than the E-bay one.

You dont by chance happen to know the length of the tubing though. I want to hide it in my cupboard below and its going to be about 1 metre away. I know my dads canister filter (cant remember brand) came with alot of tubing.

The tubing is about 4-5 ft so you should be fine.
