hi there

i bought a second hand ehiem 2227 wet/dry filter. its seems to be working okay, but the water isnt as clear as i would have hoped. I bag this filter for £21.00 and was only a year old, bargin i thought

been into maidenhead aquatics today and they are selling a aquamanta fx300 for £84.00

i know nothing about filters and been into fish set up for about 3 years but really want to take it further with a decent set up, start keep fish other than guppies etc.

my tank is 180lts. the water samples are all fine that i have tested, so cant really explain the cloudy water, thought it was a ammonia bloom but seems all ok, and had no deaths at all.

Anyway, any suggestions would help, should i just keep the filter i have?

thank you

take a look at All Pond Solutions. I have friends who bought the 1400 with UV and they have nothing but good reviews about them

I'm going to be running an Ex1200 on my Rio 180. I think most will recommend the same!
Plenty of threads to browse which will give you that answer too. Great filter. Solid build. And can pick up 2nd hand for cheap!

Go for a tetratec ex 1200, I picked mine up for £35 and its brilliant, I would stay away from all pond solutions if you can.

pond solutions remind me of cheao chinese stuff and might break down. I think i will steer clear of them,

How about keeping the filter i have?

Yep go for the tetratec

That's because they are. Lol.

In what way is your water unclear?

Adding purigen and new filter floss would work well!

But yeah, TetraTecs are great. If you are looking to swap then look no further.

my filter doesnt have the option of filter wool anywhere in it, How do you mean swap

Any filter has space for wool.

Swap - as in if you are thinking of replacing the eheim then go for the tetratec.

im sleeping next to ex1200 right now zZZZZZZ ect.
