i cleaned my external filter the other day, but i noticed the output was very low and even replaced the impeller for it. when i opened up my filter today, there was so gooey stuff in there, and there was more of it on my inlet valve. so i then took apart the pipes. there was so much of this slim stuff, its freaken gross!

i never cleaned those pipes (had for almost 2 years) but regularly cleaned my filter. never though that stuff would clog everything up.

anyone else have had this stuff before?

In my moms 55 gal. we've had it and she cleaned teh whole filter out putting the tank into a cycle.. LOL.. poor fish.. (I can't wait til she gives up on it and gives me her tank HEHE)

Best to clean the pipes/tubes every couple of months. Doesn't take long for the cack to build up.
