Yeah, it's Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite'. Those particular plants are about a year old. And that's as tall as they'll get! It's one of my favorite species. I think I'll cover the driftwood in christmas moss once my moss wall grows out and I have to trim it.

Thank you. It looks better on camera than it really is. I'm regretting not piling up the substrate at the back...

Anyway, here's a left side update:

looking great mate, your certainly getting there. cant wait till it fills out.

had any problems at all? you seem to have avoided the dreaded algae rather well.

Thanks guys.

No problems with algae! *fingers crossed*. I did suffer from cloudy water, but I think that's due to excess nitrate dosing. I followed a 'rule of thumb' amount to does per week from another forum and when I tested my nitrates this weekend they were skyhigh. So now I'm actually taking the time to test for nitrates and then dose accordingly. Thing is, my nitrates didn't decrease over a 24H period, so I'm assuming I have plants that don't use a lot of nitrates up?

So far the cloudy water has been at bay...

Thanks :)

Well, I wasn't happy with it (never was, never will be ;) ). I was particularly concerned how the left and right side didn't look unified. I'd worked seperately on each side of the tank, so this caused the divide in the tank. So, my conclusion was to add another piece of wood to the right side. A nice large piece. So I did.

Looks cool. Although im a fan of the way it looked before! :p

What is the speckled substrate that stands out in the foreground? Its like orange and black?? Ferts?

You know, I'm really new to planted tanks and don't want to put a damper on your amazing tank because quite frankly it's awesome. Just imo the left and right side look like two completely diff. tanks. the right is full of contrast, vibrant greens and the dark wood, while the left feels awfully muted, lots of middle tones and kind of muddy-ish. But like i said your tank is far superior to the one i'm in the process of establishing (my 1st planted yeah!) :p

V nice piece of wood pseud looks great......i like it.

Thanks guys. I think it really needed that piece of wood.

OMC - Don't worry, it'll blend even more once the moss wall grows out.. in... fills out.. you know what I mean. That'll help join them together. Thanks :)

Miagi - Yeah, that's some of the flourite creeping through from the bottom layer. The glosso will hide that ;)

Pseud, I haven't had the PH drop with wood that you are having, but the wood in my tank is driftwood, not bogwood, so that may cause the difference. I would love it if my PH would drop, because even with CO2 mine hange in there at around 7.6. Straight from the tap it is 8 or more. I used to worry about it with the fish, but not any more.

My 45 does have a chunk of bogwood, and I have to say that I have just recently added CO2 so haven't really followed the PH. Guess I should check that....

I LOVE the big chunk of bogwod. I wanted a piece for my daughters tank and had to go to every LFS in town to finally find a piece that was tall enough and had places to attach Anubia. Most of the bogwood I found was rather flat.

The tank looks great, and will look spectacular when it fills in.
