i've only ever kept bettas, corys and otos...so be gentle

would my 5 gal hex be too small for a couple of pure-strain endlers? (1m 2f or something?) i fancy trying something new (once i've changed the hex to sand and planted and lovely) it'll be spare. don't have room for breeding bettas, but wouldn't mind casually breeding something i can trade for fish gear at my LFS (they got bored of my red ramshorn snails ;) hehe and i've only ever seen guppies in there, never endlers)

i will also have a 4 gal acrylic spare, and can pick up another if need be (it's just find a space to slot it in thats the challenge ;)

am i going about this entirely the wrong way??

well endlers are less than an inch long, so by the 1 inch per gallon rule you could probably actually have about 7/8 in there if there were no other occupants.

don't know much about breeding but from what i gather endlers are a bit 'just add water!' so I'm sure you'd have no problems doing so, set up something like another 5g as a grow out tank, as long as you don't overcrowd it I'm sure it'd be fine.

:)

I have a 200 litre planted tank and there are lots of Endlers in there.

They are much more hardy than LFS guppies who have had the vigour inbred out of them.

The like harder water with a pH of above 7 so ideal for anyone in the South East.

The males colours are much more spectacular than Guppies and the biggest advanyage is they tend not to be fry eaters

sounds promising! glad to hear about the PH, mine can get up to around 8. stupid london water!

i would rather understock the 5 gal than put loads in just because of the inch per gallon rule, especially if they're reproducing!
