Electric Blue Rams

Are electric blue rams hard to keep? they're abit pricey but are pretty cool.
My LFS has a few of them in @ £26 each

My tank stats are;

pH: 6.6
Ammo: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 40
Tank Size: 90L

They are cool but known to be very sensitive.

Your ph is the range that is more acceptable for them than mine was, I ended up bying an RO system for my Rams and Apistos.......then I changed to the Tang tank

The price at the lfs is a concern though, they`re only about £12 each at my lfs At that price of £26 each I would personally give them a miss but it`s up to you at the end of the day

My pH is 7.6, so i'm content with bolivian ram although i would certainly like to have ramirez. £26 is definitely too much in my opinion and you should try and get from some other store unless you are stuck with only one lfs near you.

They might of been £26 for the pair, i didnt have a good look at the label..
Hopefully they was as the other LFS near me are pure saltwater shops or american cichlid based

The pH used to be around 7.2 and slowely dropped to 6.6 and has seemed to stabled down there according to my tests the last few months.
I set the tank up with R.O water as it's not that bad a price at my LFS (£2.50 per 25L), but i use tap water (pH 7.0) for water changes.

But thanks for the advice , if they're £26 for the pair i think i might give them ago

i see. they're nice, but i think i prefer the mixture of colours on GBR's and bolivians, as oppose to just blue/silver.

i have seen other 'rarer' dwarf cichlids at about that price for a pair though.

I do currently have a ram but tbh i'm not too sure what it is at all..
It looks a little like a GBR but maybe not as colorful and it has light red long fins too.
I'll try get a picture of it up soon hopefully someone can ID it for me as i'd like to get another

I'm pretty noobie when it comes to rams, i've just recently started to enjoy them more

sounds like a bolivian to me. ive only seen them in shops, so their colours may have been off, but they were always paler and had red fin tips on them. saying that, my GBR has recently developed red along his fins.
