Just bought a second hand eheim 2224 pro for £25 in the hope that it can do a better job than an old rena xp2, basically all i have is the filter itself, by the looks im at least missing the pipe locking fixing to hold the pipes in place, i think the pipes im running on the rena are 16mm and is the eheim only 12mm? if so can i adapt it?, and if i do get 12mm pipes how are they fixed onto the the filter, are they just forced over the lip in the hope its a sufficient seal? my tettra ex1200 has threaded taps and the rena has cable clips and forced over the top, also the seals between baskets seem to have had a bit of a battering. The rena is also running through a spray bar, would this reduce the efficiency?

Is it wishful thinking that the eheim will be able to filter my osaka 155 effectively?, i find the problem with the osaka is that its so deep and how is it supposed to filter the bottom of the tank, i currently run the osaka with the rena and a hang-on from my spare fluval edge with an uprated impeller and some additional pipe to extend the intake lower in the tank and its not doing a good enough job.

cheers

Quick google image search shows this diagram of all the parts - http://www.fishandfins.co.uk/eheim-2224.htm

You can get 12-16mm reducers to use with your old piping here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EHEIM-REDUCER-16MM-12MM-4004980-EXTERNAL-FILTER-HOSE-/390103785046?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item5ad3ff5e56&_uhb=1
