hi everyone just a quick question had my eheim 2028 running now for 3 months

until a couple of weeks ago the flow of the water from the spray bar was very fast, quite rapid which my fish loved however now it has somewhat been reduced to a mere trickle.

I have cleaned the pipes out fully, checked nothing is blocking the intake pipe, also checked the propeller inside the pump to see for any loose stones or anything blocking but havent found anything.

Is there something im completley missing out on what to do? i would ideally like to have the water back to full running capacity
ive also checked the water flow indicator and apparently it is running as it should be.

can anyone help at all maybe suggest? thanks

i have the same filter sorry i dont know what the problem is, just wanted you to know your not being ignored. :)

thanks for letting me know i may ring up the place i got it from tomrrow as i think my fish are starting to pick on each other as they dont have the fast flow to distract them all! thanks

try pushing a pin into the spray bar holes and wiggling it about.

done that i took apart the entire piping and gave it a good rinsing any residue came out its all clear now just doesnt seem to be the same

have you actually cleaned the media in the cannister or just the pipes?
have you checked the bottom isn't clogged with detrius?

cleaned the media with tank water ...

checked for any blockages nothing really seems to be asthetically wrong i just cant understand why the flow has deteroiated so much

Try pulling out the flow indicator ball, along with the retraining clip. These things get gummed up, and actually reduce the flow. I've been running a 2026 without it for years and never have a flow problem. Also, make sure the flow adjustment lever is pushed all the way down.

Once in a while the passages inside, just past the impeller will get clogged. Remove the impeller & flush these passages out.

Dismantle it, then just run the head/pump unit alone in your sink or bath to see if the pump is the problem, maybe the impeller is jammed or has something in the impeller tube.

It happened on mine causing the impeller to turn only spasmodically, pumping just a trickle.

Heya everyone thanks for all your help on the pump its back to full power now

i went to LFS to get some help on it too all your opinions helped.

in the future if this happens to anyone else, take out all the filter media and fill up the canister with water, power up the filter and it should clear out anything that was clogged

in addition also check the propeller head as everyone said in here its usually something as tiny as a little pebble.

Thanks everyone!
