Scott Michael and Rob Fenner differ on opinion on that. They note that the white ribbon will spend more time in the rockwork and is more likely to retreat from the stick. In Reef Fishes Volume 1 Scott Michael notes that he has at times managed to get black ribbons to feed on dead but has never had any such success with white ribbons.Black ribbon Morays have a pretty dismal survival rate, Andy. Reputedly much more difficult to get feeding than White Ribbons. Make sure you get a good one.They tend to be one of those fish that are better left in the wild.
I think the main problem is that black ribbons are more available so more people grab them without knowing their feeding requirements.
