What I've seen on mini swords, they are more suited in the foreground. They grow to 6cm.

I don't want to go hi tech with plants. Also need to keep the tank low maintenance.

Nice tank! What size?
You could maybe add some cabomba? You could also add some java fern/moss and/or anubia's to some bogwood and/or onto the rocks.

I really like the swords. Amazon sword is easy and doesn't require co2. Flame sword is easy. That's what I have and I have had to remove some as just the three I put in over ran the tank.
