Well i found an earthworm in a bit of garden type thing i have so popped it in the fish tank nearly straight away my dawrf snakehead ate it. Well i was wondering if i get my own earthworms and breed them is it safe to feed them to the fish? i'd imagine it is just thought id double check.
Not allowed to feed them crickets anymore as a couple escaped and the Girlfriend went mad:( so need an alternate..

why garden worms ? why not just buy / breed the food your fish are KNOWN to eat ?

worms eat nothing but crap, why feed them to your fish ?

Why feed them earth worms? something differernt for them to try and something they appeared to like...Hence the reason i was asking the question if they are ok for them to eat...

As for food theyre known to eat well not much is known about some Snakeheads so there is no definitive guide. Bloodworm etc probs doesnt have nutrinal value either.

just seems odd that despite the many types of food , you have chosen common garden worms , good luck tho :)

i regularly feed my sevs earthworms from the garden as a treat they love em and thrive on em .

the only concern i would have is make sure they came from somewhere that hasn't been treated with any pesticides or chemicals.

Most of the time i just stick a few floating cichlid pellets and use prawns as a treat , earthworms only dawned on me as i was moving stuff around int he garden. Can you not bulk the worms up like you do with crickets, making them more nutrional?

Last time I checked nearly all carnivorous fish are known to eat worms.

Worms do not eat crap, they eat decaying plants.

They are safe to feed your fish as long as you get them from non-fertilized ground.
