'Plays'??
In the wild, bubbles are usually caused by an influx of water to the local environment. This usually implies the possibility of some fresh food items, so bubbles are also worth investigating.
Plus, bubbles are interesting enough for a fish with some brain cells, like a gourami, to investigate anyways.
My standard Dwarf explores the whole tank, paying little attention to either of the two bubblers, nor to any other particular spot...apart from the floater-free area, where I drop the food into.
