Does Anyones Fluval External Filter Do This?

i recently brought a fluval 305 external filter
i noticed that now and again blows out bubbles from the outlet nozzle and it seems it gets a pressure build up then releases it out.
is this normal?
my hosing is fine etc

It may still be working out the air in the media,if its been in a while then check the seal ring is on properly,could be sucking air thru

some times my tetratec 1200 lets out air bubbles out the outlet pipe when it happens i just shake the cannister and it normally does a big burst of bubbles then doesnt do it again for a good while so you could just try shaking the cannister a bit?

Yep I had that exact problem with my Fluval 405.

I had put to many polishing clothes in the top two trays and they had picked up to much muck.

I cleaned them and reduced the number and all was well.

One other occasion I had air bubbles from the air stone going into the intake sure enough moved the air stone slightly problem resolved

mine just this time to time, but to be honest mine has gone past its life and needs to get a whole new one. it slightly leaks doesnt always work and makes some terrible noises.

but i believe its normal what you are explaining, as others have said maybe the bubbles are from the new media you have just put into the filter.

With mine I think because it had to many polishing pads that soiled up it meant that there was a restriction and a reduction of water flow I think what was happening was the water supply to the pump was restricted sufficiently to the level that there was cavitation which produced the bubbles.

Of course cleaning the pads and putting the manufactures recommended loading of trays resulted in the problem disappearing

Of course this is supposition on my part I am no expert in Fluval external canisters but I am a service engineer in another industry or was for 16 years so by changing what I thought was the problem resulting in a resolution of the problem tells me that was my problem.

thanks for the advise it seems to be fine now.it hasnt been setup long.

My 305 does the same after a clean, just gently rock the canister side to side and back to front upto around 45 degrees and that should get rid of any trapped air.
