I cant decide whether to use the venturi on my filters or not. I know the idea is aeration, but are there any disadvantages?

If you use the venturi, is the air stone redundant? I occurred to me that it was cheaper to run the venturi on the filter return than run a separate air pump and air stone.

I would like to hear your views please.

I replaced about 7 pumps (up to 8 outlet) on some of them, with a single venturi blower and only got a trickle of air out of it.

I then changed my feed tubing to 15mm dia, and are now literarily blowing the fish out of the water in about 25 tanks (with reserve blow-off capacity)..... Venturis don't have the pressures that a pump can handle, but definitely the air power.....

whats a venturi??

Venturis are blowers.... Much like the type they use to keep Kiddies jumping castles blown up...... They basically work with vanes, whereas your pumps work with rubber diaphragms that eventually wear out and has to be replaced from time to time....Get it??

Damn!!... You mean to tell me that my whole posting of the Venturi and it's uses was in vane..... I protest!!
