Discus

I don't find my discus to be any less active then my large cichlid tank. My discus hang out a lot, but they explore the tank, graze on algae and they chase each other. They have relationships that can be entertaining. They are so peaceful to watch I often find myself sitting in front of the tank to relax. I have a Ram and Festivum in the tank to they help spice it up well the ram does he is a punk. I heard older discus tend to just hang around and look pretty but my little guys 2-5" are just as active as my big cichlids.

I will say this 10% wc once a week is not enough. 20% at the least. I was doing daily WC for my discus of 20%. Now I do weekly 95% wc I take out as much water as I can with out the fish going on their sides. I know some people do 100% wc. The Water change is the key to keeping discus. Also feeding all kinds of food helps too.

My discus are very active as well and just the same as the angels that were in there and most other cichlids I;ve kept to be fair

i think snowflkake hit the nail on the head. big discus like i had tend to be a lot slower . the group dynamics were interesting to observe , but i couldnt say theyve got the same level of persoanlity as say a severum or oscar .
