thanks everybody . i will put some more pics up once the plants are in .

Heteranthera zosterifolia x1
Hygrophila polysperma x2
Cryptocoryne beckettii 'petchii' x1
Echinodorus bleheri x1
Echinodorus 'Ozelot' x1

all tropica pots

oh awesome looking tank...you can keep mature neon tetra too...your tank is perfect for discus..nicely decorated...

Have had poor successs with neon tetras in temps much above 78 degrees F. They simply burn up and die within weeks or months at temperatures that Discus enjoy.
I tried keeping them with Discus on several occasions and results were always the same.
The Discus I raised from babies did not pay small tetras(cardinals) any mind but as adults,,they quickly began eliminating them.
Had much better results with Sterbai corys and German blue Rams although the discus and corys nearly always consumed the eggs of the Rams when they found them.

anubias!!!you can order for some anubias too....

i will probably get some anubias for the 2 smaller bits of wood once the taller plants grow enough to give them a little shade

stocking will be 6 discus 30 cardinals and maybe some german blue rams

I'm excited about this tank as well Mark lol always wantyed to do discus on a larger scale tank

if you can get cardinals then there should be no reason to keep neons as the two don;t compare looks wise. I kep dinner plate size discus with cardinals and rummys with no problems

have you ordered giant vallis? love that stufff and if it takes well will make this look like such a great tank

yep ihave ordered 3 pots of giant vallis simonas . should have them early this week.altho it looks like any plans of stocking will have to wait as the cycle seems to have stalled . i am getting through 5ppm of amonia in 12 hours no probs , but for some reasoni still aint getting thru the nitrite . tested this morning results were ammonia 0 nitrites 5ppm

oh great, you can also keep herliquin rasbora...but i keep only discus along with albino and bronze cory...please upload more and more pictures...

thanks for the compliments everybody . no new pics yet discuslover as nothing has changed . i am waiting for my plants to arrive . there will be more pics once the plants are in .

at the moment the plan is to plant the giant vallis in a half circle around behind the big bit of wood to kind of "frame" it , havent got a clue how im going to arrange the rest of the plants but the good thing with them all being potted is i can just move them around in the pots til im happy before i remove from the pots and plant them.

plants arrived today and i planted it which was a complete and utter disaster . i managed to disturb the substrate under the sand so now the water is so cloudy i cant even see what it looks like . i basicly planted it blind. now i have to wait for it to clear so i can see what needs moving etc etc . right now im seriously wound up and not in a good mood at all. this has proper took the jam out of my doughnut  :oh:

Now that is annoying, because when it clears and you move it all, its going to get all cloudy again. Never mind I bet it will look fantastic as soon as it settles

i have to say tho that i was very impressed with the quality of the plants from tropica. the giant valis is trulu massive , easily 3 foot in length and the amazon sword is easily a foot tall too .

Sounds lovely, I never have any luck with plants, I stick to java fern now its easy lol.

nope nor me so what the hell made me think i know il do a nice planted discus tank god only knows!
