cheers nelly altho i will reserve judgement until it clears. i took everything out again and capped the substrate more with the other 2 bags of sand i had and then re-planted as tank was re-filling. still a little cloudy from the filling . i just hope i like what i see when the lights go on tomorrow......... if not il probably blow a fuse lol . its 3.30 am i have just finished cleaning up and i have to be up for work at 6 am

I have found that root tabs are of great benefit to heavy root feeder's such as the large swordplant and perhaps the vallisneria?(sp)
I would place one root tab perhaps two at the base of the plants monthly.
Also had some sucess with product.. Flourish Comprehensive
plant supplement added weekly after water change.

i have got some root fertilisers called absolute root monster for the swords etc and the water colum will be dosed with flourish excel and tropica plant nutrition .

Any clearer today? If not, Id be tempted to do a large water changes, might help get that nitrIte down too!

its crystal clear today mags after last nights marathon slog. need to sort the stem plants out tho they are way to far apart planted singly and look a mess , had an hours sleep last night before i had to get up for work by the time id finished. , guess you didnt see my reply to your post re cycling. the nitrites have now caught up so i will be adding the cardinals at the weekend. im going out tonight but if i get time il try and get a pic up of progress so far

ok some new pics. its still a long way from being where i want it . it needs some tidying up and some more plants and a bit of general polishing but its slowly getting there . anyway on to the pics

Sweet set up when the plants fill out it will look awesome. It looks good now but you know what I mean. Can't wait to see Your fish.

thanks for the compliments everybody tonight im going to order some more plants . im going to get some anubias for the smaller piece of wood , some more crypts for the foreground and ive had my eye on this gorgeous red lotus lilly so il probably get 1 of those too.

just been and got 40 cardinals . they are floating ( bags that is) as we speak being acclimatised.

the tank with 1st lot of plants in and 40 cardinals , a few more plants to go in next week
