I got some lyretail swords the last thursday and earlier this week i noticed one of the fish kept chasing the rest round,
I had a look on the internet asked friends and they said he was just trying to sort the pecking order so i just kept an eye on them see if it would settle down but it has calmed down abit but not completely.
The fish that seems to be chasing the others doesn't look like a lyretail just looks like a normal swordtail.
(I'de get some pictures but I haven't got the hang of taking pictures of them yet)
I was just wondering if because it was a different kind of swordtail which is why he is chasing the others round?

They are what my lyretails look like

Yeah, it looks like you have gotten a normal swordtail instead of a lyretail one. That's ok compatibility wise because the lyretail swordtails were bred from normal ones, so their behavior should be fine together. Fish do have their own personalities though, and sometimes you come across an aggressive fish among their peaceful tankmates. Also just because one fish in the store is totally peaceful in their tanks doesn't mean that it won't become aggressive in your tank. You just never know until you get it home and acclimated to your conditions. The only thing you can do is to take the rowdy one back to the store and hope that the new one you get is better with your other fish. It's normal for this to happen, you haven't done anything wrong.

If you have two male swords chasing each other it is very normal for them. Swordtails are not the easy going peaceful fish that their cousins the platies are. Two mature male swords in a small tank, even a 20 to 30 gallon size, will have a go at each other quite often.
