take a look at the links in my sig. you might find something you like. there are types of bogwood that aren't supposed to leach tannins...I believe mopani is one of them. You can also get fake bogwood. Slate is a great tool to work with when designing a tank. Get a tube of aquarium silicone a bunch of slate a hammer and a file (to get rid of sharp edges) and start making caves. My sister took a piece of slate and a whole bunch of quartz crystals of varying color and siliconed it together to make a cave. It looks pretty good IMHO. I personally like a blend between plastic, silk, and real plants. All real is definitly better but a bit tough to pay for and maintain. One more idea that I've had is to silicone sand or pea sized gravel to tupperwear to make hills with caves under them. Might look nice might look trash but it may be worth a try. People also use boiled coconut shells as caves. lets see what else ... oh yeah flower pots work well as makeshift caves as do vases. Make sure your fish can't get stuck and that the piece has no sharp edges. that's about all I can think of ATM.
