So after thinking over saltwater i decided to just try and get more experience with a larger variety of fw fish instead of just reading about them.... so as of right now i have a 10 gallon already going and a 20 gallon tall ready to go for what ever i decide upon... however i might have a chance to upgrade my 20 tall to a 55 gallon considering ive saved up 300$ for saltwater...soo a couple options here if parents allow, A.keep my 10 gallon going with shell dwellers or something small, (maybe a self cloning crayfish for food supplies?), start my 20 gallon tall as idk Gbr pair tank with some tetras and plant it....or not use the 20 tall and get a Craigslist 55 Gallon and do a larger amazon set up with angels gbr and some other fish that appreciate warmer temps, or what ive recently been interested in is possibly a lake Malawi set up.... just so many options, and am looking for just some fun fish to keep that are relatively easy as well (in school and we go on vacations alot, but i still have tons f free time i devote to my tanks)....

budget is 300$ bucks and already have the 10 gallon with stand and the 20 tall with light tank and stand and filter...


(one last idea is to do an avocado puffer in the 20g tall if that's enough room for one and use the 10g as the crayfish food tank as i mentioned...) Sorry for the confusing writing, but any suggestions or ideas are welcome!

Problem is mate, everyone has different opinions, some will say do the malawi etc etc, got to really sit down and think what really grabs your attention, if you away quite abit have a lightly stocked tank,so your not needing to keep up on waterchanges so frequently

yeah true true and true on there nelly... good news is i found a 55g with stand lights and canister filter for 60$ 30 min away so should be fun, and the reason why i ask is because really any of these set ups catch my eye.. im just extremely enthusiastic about my fishes.... haha If i did the angels and gbr id probably see if i could get my hand on some caecilians as well (Mik has success with them and gbr) ...so basically it should be an overall entertaining tank as there's just so many fish i want to keep (dont we all?) and idk its just so much fun...

Go for the 55 if you can, both malawi setup and amazon themed setups will look brilliant as nelly said just have a good think

jealousy.... haha when i get my own house i swear people wont go to visit the shed aquarium they will be lining up at my house

And Malawi Mad, always had the hots for mouth brooding and parental care in Malawi cichlids....seems like its more of a Planted interesting cichlid amazon setup vs interesting colorful behaviorally rich cichid set up... im more of a fan of planted tanks (which ive heard some hardier tougher plants are fine /w african cichlids) but where i dont care for the rock work look of lake Malawi set up it makes up in the colors and behaviors of the exciting fish....

See as you probably guessed im more of an african cichlid fan..Kept them for a long time now and they never seem to loose their exciting active nature which made me setup a malawi tank from the start. Yeah some plants work well but the rockwork finishes the tank off if its done well. Amazon tanks do look awesome too very natural and can house a mix of species.
