Death Advice.

When i got home today, i found one of my cromides cichlids with its head buried in a plant , after testing all the water conditions, i found everything fine bar the ph which was 6.5, unlike its usual 7, but the fish according to books, should tolerate this, as its limit. so im going to use the 7 day guarantee i had on the fish, the fish has no visual damage, but i will not be able to get the fish back to the lfs until saterday, so what can i do with the fish to preserve its condition?

The possible swing in pH could of affected it, but I wouldn't expect it to die as a result of this.

Maybe it was diseased? Any signs on it's corpse? Whats the temperature? Anything strange happenings leading up to the death? Any tank mates capable of killing?

That is the only noticeable thing, the ph. but .5 over 2 days, is minuscule.
The temp is a steady 77(25) The body is still in full colour, no visual signs.
Nothing strange happed on lead up, when i fed this morning he was gobbling it down.
Tank mates are, 1 female cromide cichlid(partner, possible pair)and 6 sparkling gouramis, and a few cherry shrimp.

You said it was gobbling it down, it didn't choke did it?
Stupid question, but thinking off the top of my head as to what happened with it?

Like I said though, could be a diseased fish with an uncommon disease.

i just ment he was eating well, seemed to be fine, my mom says when she cleaned my room about a hour later, she said he again looked fine.

Is it anything to do with him buried right in the plants?

unless it got trapped in the plant and suffocated. For preserving it put it in a fish bag and in the freezer to take back to the shop

Its now in the freezer, its the only thing i can see, must have got trapped, as the female still looks perfectly healthy.

a shop near me will only take dead fish within a guarantee period if you take the fish back to them frozen.
