Dead Harlequins - Advice Please

Thank you doresy - one of my favs too. Absolutely gutted tbh. Horrible to see the state they were in. The 2 on sunday we euthanised - couldn't stand to see them like it, really pitiful.

Have 4 left and so far, they're ok. Just the lemon & the platy looking dodge but they're hanging in there & acting normally. Everything Double-X'd!

Will let you know how we get on,
jen

Be lucky....eh :good:

Just an update: the lemon tetra that was poorly died yesterday and another lemon was dead this morning (no symptoms on this one that I could see). Platy's tail looking the same - no worse - and he's behaving fine. No sign of anything on the other fish and they're all acting normally.

Everything X'd we don't lose anymore. Am going to lfs on Tuesday to see what they have to say.

Many thanks for all the help,
jen

ps didn't realise the myxazin was so green! OH thought I'd lost my marbles & was putting mushy peas in!

Yes myxazin is green and sends the water a green tinge till the med works in.
I would do a water change and do another 5 days.
Good luck.

Hi again Wilder.

3rd dose of myxazin went in this afternoon. So would you say do a water change tomorrow and then start another 5 days immediately with the fresh water?

How much of a water change do you think?

Sorry for all these questions - my first disaster and you've been a great help.

jen

Usually it a 30% water change.
Yes go in again you have a bad strain, don't want it all flaring up again once you stop the meds.
Good luck.

Hi again!

Just a quick update - no more poorly fish and platy's tail looking much better, still not quite right but definite improvement.

Went to LFS today & spoke to the manager - she was very apologetic & straight away went to look at harlequins they had left and offered replacements. Told her wanted to get the tank clear & then let the tank settle down for a few weeks. She also apologised for advice given last week.

Fingers crossed we've seen the worst of this now.

No doubt need advice again at the end of this 2nd lot of treatment

Finally, many thanks Wilder - I know we're not out of the woods yet but without your help & advice, I think the tank would be completely wiped out. Thanks also for the good wishes Doresy!

jen

Glad yours are on the mend.
Good luck, and glad you spoken to the lfs.
