Hey all,

Got home today to find a dead rummynose tetra. I've checked water stats and everything looks good. I checked the body and found no marks or wounds so I've ruled out it's the juvi green terrors fault. The head was a nice red colour so does this mean I can rule out illness or sickness? Could it maybe be old age?

All the other fish seem happy and look well

Thanks

Check your water temp and if that and your water stats are ok id say its just one of those things! just keep an eye on the rest of the fish for any signs all is not well.

Thanks. Water temp is good as are the water stats (one last check before bed time). I don't know if I read somewhere that live food can carry parasites? They had live bloodworm on Saturday. Maybe something to do with that?

Cheers

also doubt it was the bloodworm - as I said sometimes fish do die for no apparent reason and if its a one off I wouldnt worry too much.

Always good practice whenever something odd happens 50-60% water change won't do any harm

I wouldnt rule out the GT, even a chase can cause stress which does kill. It could have rammed into something?

Wills

Did 25% straight after I took the fish out. Will do another 25% just to be sure.

Is their no risk with feeding live food then? I was always under the assumption it could cause problems. Don't know why :S

I'll keep my eye on the GT's, but I've seen next to no agression towards the tetra and barbs.

Thanks all :)
