What dechloranator is the most concentrated/value for money? I have just finished my two 5L containers, so it has been quite some time since i have had to buy any! But when doing water changes for my6 tanks, i dont want to be wasting money!

Seachem Prime, as far as I know. I use a pond dechlor, as it's cheaper than the aquarium stuff.

If you just want to get rid of chlorine, and aren't too bothered with the bit of ammonia left from chloramine, sodium thiosulfate crystals are by far the cheapest. I'm seeing 8 pounds for $20, a pound will dechlorinate from 30,000 to 150,000 gallons of water depending on the chlorine level of your water.

And also if you just want to get rid of chlorine, and aren't too bothered with the bit of ammonia left from chloramine - API Tap Water Conditioner. Deals with chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals but doesn't do anything with ammonia from chloramine. 1 drop per American gallon for chlorine.

Agree with Fluttermoth - buy pond decholor - pounds cheaper and lasts for ages! I have a 250L tank and only have to buy a bottle once a year! You can get it cheap on Ebay as a lot of fish shops dont stock it.

I have some of this - but thought it was tricky to dissolve in big buckets of water.... can i devolve the set amount in a tub of water, then add that the the big container of water to have the same effect?

Sorry to rain on your topic with my own question... hope its ok. It's related but such a small question I didn't want to start my own thread lol.

I got a big bottle of nutrafin aquaplus water conditioner free, does anyone know if this stuff is any good? I normally use seachem prime.


Also to OP... I have always heard good things about seachem prime, it is normally what is recommended. But I, too, want something that's good but a little cheaper as I have 4 tanks so the dechlor runs out fast. I think I will try pond dechlor too.

Mix a pound in with a gallon of distilled or RO water, 2-4 drops per gallon of the mix to dechlor.

I posted the same topic a while back but the tetra pond stuff I was looking at contained formaldehyde and was told it wasn't suitable as it kills off the bacteria in your filter.

well not yet...but i am thinking about it just for ease and i hear it can help reduce algae! Why do you ask? I know i wont need dechl. if using RO if thats where your heading>
