Ok I've been cycling my tank(10 gallons) for about a week. I also droped some fish food in to help bacteria growth. The under graval filter has been running while the tank cycles. I will get a test kit later today. I plan to put in:

x1dwarf gourami
x6 neon tetras
x2 dwarf frogs
x8-9 ghost shrimp

I was thinking about taking out 1 or 2 neons and switch for 2 bigger tetras maybe like black skirts.

Neon tetra need mature tanks of 6 months.
Also they need to be kept in no less than a group of 6.

The tanks to small for black skirt tetra's.

Leave the neons until your tank has had fish in for 3-6 months. Tetras also need groups of 6, so having 4 of one kind and 2 of another isn't good. They won't behave normally and will get rather stressed.

The tank won't cycle without a regular source of ammonia - unless you're very careful and disciplined with your testing, fishfood isn't a good route to go down for a fishless cycle. You'd be better off using liquid ammonia if you can get it. Have a read of this.
