i have 6 danios and 2 corys cycling a 20 gallon tank.

the nitrites are barely visable now...

does that mean it is almost finished cycling

ammonia/oxygen/chlorine/cloramine/PH are all fine also

cheers

macky :p

yeah, it sounds as if its done.
how long has it been in total?

amonia spikes first, then the nitrite spikes. once both spikes have returned to zero (or as close as poss.) then the cycle is complete.

Yes, sounds like you are almost there. Your nitrite should at zero very soon as when it comes down it does so very quickly. BTW...What are your nitrate readings?

It could. But don't count your chickens before they hatch (as the old saying goes).

You are cycled when - and only when - three conditions are present:

1. Ammonia drops to zero and remains there

2. Nitrite drops to zero and remains there

3. Nitrate levels steadily rise

If you have conditions 1 and 2, and they have maintained for a couple of days, and nothing "looks" out of whack, then it is generally safe to pronounce your tank cycled.

If your nitrite level is dropping, that is generally a sign that the cycle is almost finished, but IMHO, it isn't safe to make assumptions. Here's hoping, though!

pendragon!
