Cycling Is Making Me Pull Out My Hair

stick at it, your half way to reaping the rewards :good:

from what i can see (and from my little knowledge) it looks like youve had your ammonia spike which has slowly come down, and now your about to get your nitrite spike.

when you get results of

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate (can be 0 or even 20)

then thats when your tank has finished cycling.

PH does seem a little on the high side but ive read somewhere that this can happen when cycling a tank.

looks like your on the right tracks though.

If you think the old results are bad, Last night I tested at .25 for Ammonia 8.2 Ph 5.0 Nitrite and 20 for Nitrate.

I immediately changed half the water, but I'm leaving Friday night for another state so they wont have a water change from then on till Sunday morning. I hope I don't come back to find all my hard work with destructive results :(

You will need to do more large water changes. You said that your nitrite was at 5 so you did a 50% water change, but this effectively will have only roughly halved the nitrites to between 2/3 ppm which is still too high.

I'd recommend seeing if you have a family member who could possibly do water changes for you whilst you're away? 3 days is a long time to leave a fish in cycle without a change, especially during the nitrite spike stage
