Also my lfs sells beefheart thats in a package like brine shrimp are sold in except it is a clear package. It cost 7.99 but i forgot how much it weighed. How and where (walmart) do u buy ur beef heart. How is it prepared if u bought it from sum sort of store like walmart. Do discus prefer calm water? thanx

$50 is to much to gamble with

Where are you buying your Discus?

They should pair up alittle before they are a year old. Depending on the strain they can spawn at around a year or maybe not until two.

I get my beefheart at a specialty meat store. When I get it they are still pretty much whole and you have to cut off all the fat and then grind it up using a meat grinder. Discus like alittle current but dont make it very strong.

I am buying my fish from a privately owned lfs. There prices are high as hell but i dont know y i still buy fish from them. I bought my angels from them n they were 5.95 for an angel no bigger than a dime. I have a 24" airwand in the back of the tank, is this to much current?

sry if this post is confusing im just trying to figure out how people make quotes like the one u did above this post.

how did u post like this? how the questions are under the post. yea i never figured this out

If the airwand is just those things that make bubbles than that will be fine. I have noticed sometimes when im doing my w/c's some of them like to swim in the current. They might do the same with the airwand.

alright thanks ur post just came out of no where n had me confused for a sec.

LOL no problem im glad to help. I wonder if I could be made mod of this section for my knowledge on Discus.

alright heres another question: Do u age ur water and heat it up to the temp that matches ur tank or do u just clean the bottom with gravel cleaner and fill it up with tap water? thanx

I age my water with an air stone but right now I dont heat it up like I should. With my new tanks im getting heaters so I will have the storage water airated and heated before w/c's.

ok. i can only airate my water right now cuz im too broke to buy a heater. (thats a shame) I but a large peice of drift wood to put in the center and i have 2 amazon swords that will go on the left and right of the driftwood and 2 jungle vails that are 11" tall, they will be held down with suction cups. ( plants are fake) Do u think this will look good. I want to add rocks n i am not worried about the discus growing fast as hell. I know the tank will be harder to clean but i will just put up with that for the extra looks. When they start to pair off n breed i will take out the rocks then but till then there will be rocks. Also when u do ur w/c's are ur fish stressed out or wat? At the lfs i am buying my discus from they said that w/c's stresses out the discus. thanx

If you are doing a tank with sand, driftwood, and rocks I would go with a group of cories and some bushynose plecos and go ahead and get live plants because that will cut down on the nitrates. As for W/C my Discus got stressed at first but after awhile they still got alittle stressed but not to much. Some people say there Discus love frozen brine shrimp and some say the hate it. If you give it to them and they like it then keep on giving. Just remember to do a varied diet not just brine shirmp.
