They should grow pretty well. 2-3 w/c a week will be fine as long as there is not ALOT of discus in the tank. If theres 6-10 then that will be fine. Make sure to feed alot of different types of food like beefheart, bloodworks, colorbits, and flakes.

They will be fed color bits, tetra flakes, frozen brine shrimp mayb blood worms if i can find any. Dont think i will be doing beef heart though :/ .

Im not to sure about that product. The easiest way would be to put some gravel in there or a sponge from another tank and then run the filters and add ammonia everyday. Once the cycling is done you can put the gravel or sponge back into the other tank.

i dont have any sponges from the other tank but i do have gravel n fake plants n wat not.As soon as my sponge is shipped to me i may just let it run in there until my friend buys my 55g. Hopefully some bacteria will be on it by then.

FFG, im back again. I gave my favorite lfs a visit sunday and he told me that he kept his discus at 6.8 and the water temp is 86f, n they feed their discus twice a day; but they are fed different items on the menu, for ex. bloodworms, flakes, color bits, blah blah. He also told me that they clean they tank only once a month and frequent water changes stresses out discus. His wife is very knowledgeable also about discus. I think she knows more than he does. He sold me a chem. called Ph 5.0 Seachem Discus buffer, it adjust the ph to 5.8-6.8. Also he told me that i could buy a chem called CYCLE and put that in the tank when the fish are in. His discus are very healthy and i saw no signs of illness: active colors are not black, no closed fins, no signs of ick or fin rot. He also told me i should put in three at a time and wait a month b4 i add any more. I will be picking up 4 this sunday if i water conditions are perfect. 2 blue diamonds, n 2 pigeon bloods.

I dont think you should adjust the pH. Im not the only one who thinks this way, go on Simply Discus or DAAH and ask and they will say the same. As for the CYCLE, im not fimilar with that product so I really cant say much. Anyway, congrats on getting Discus....when you actully get them. Oh and do frequent W/C's. And again im not the only one who feels that its needed.

Well what should i do about the ph it is different than the stores ph and the fish may be unhealthy due to the ph change. N about simply discus i posted already about the ph.

The best thing to do is when you get the fish leave them in a bucket and slowly add your water and slowly take out the water from the store. As for your pH just keep it stable.

They can but Angels can get dieseaes that dont really harm them but can be contracted by Discus and that can be a bad thing.
