I bought a pair and one killed the other within 2 days... then again it was a 60l tank. I'd say that a 3 foot or bigger, fine, but any smaller and no.

I got 2 males a while ago and one killed the other in a week and then ate it :sick:

I would not advise it. Maybe in a big tank but still not sure. I decided not to get Dwarf Gouramis after that.

I had two together for months then added a third male (no females) they were okay together but the third was a bit much i think and go picked on a bit however the 2 origionals were fine together and I had them in a tiny 10-15L bowl before i found tthis site and realised that was a big mistake! lol I still have one now (the third one brought in DG Disease i think) so lost one of my originals a few weeks back :unsure:

so yeah a pair of males in down to 50L tank will be okay but not ideal I would say, obviously it depends on the individual fish, my pair were kept in the same tank from young age so maybe used to their company? had more trouble with my swordtail thinking he is the boss of the tank! is this for your new rio?

thats cool if you get females then get at least two per male because they can be horny buggers lol personally I didn't think the females were very pretty so only got males

Depending on tank size, males will get on cheerfully.... but, as it is said.... if you do get females as well... get an extra.
