Hi this is Norman my pearl gourami, I think hes male but not 100% sure
Could someone tell me please

Yes, I think it’s a male bc of what appears to be a pointy looking dorsal fin and rather curtain-like anal fin. The throat/belly area looks slimmer than pudgy leading to me to think male as well. The lack of yellow leads me to think he’s either a younger guy or he is not amongst females. Has he made any bubble nests or bubble spots (which males do) at the water surface?

I think I've seen a bubble nest when cleaning, i thought male. Just him no females. Hes around 6mth

Yes….he’s on the young side (unlike me) and they’ll also pale up with any stress or sudden light changes. Love these guys. If your tank is big enough, tank can handle the increased bio-load, and you yourself want, adding a couple of females would likely make his colors pop. Well…..gotta finish my coffee and head off to today’s car show.

I love these fish. The colours, as they mature, are stunning. I have one male in my tank, and it will hopefully be my main showpiece when it gets a little older. I chose not to get any more, as I read somewhere that unless there are a load of them in your tank, two males may be slightly aggressive towards each other, as they need to have a dominant male, and if I add a female, then they can become slightly territorial. How true this is, I don't know, but I'm at the age where I like everything peaceful without the drama.

I have had males kill each other. There was no slightly there, they literally targeted each other's throats. Lesson learned.
