cory eating cucumber?

i put some cucumber in my tank for my ottos but my bronze albino cory seems to be eating it more than the ottos?
is this heard of?

How long are you supposed to you leave the cucumber in the tank for?

the fish below in my signiture all but the algae eater eats cucumber... and i leave mine in a day and its gone!!!! but if not change every 2 or 3 days before gets manky
