I was just taking quick shots in my tanks when a young male Congo tetra (Phenecogrammus interruptus) swam into my focus, framed himself perfectly and then stopped moving. They are such pretty fish, but they don't usually cooperate for photos!
How did you get such a completely black background? That is really the perfect shot.I was just taking quick shots in my tanks when a young male Congo tetra (Phenecogrammus interruptus) swam into my focus, framed himself perfectly and then stopped moving. Yep…..that tip (film them, then pick out and extract the best still) is spot on. I probably get 90-95% of my fish pics that way. That is a great shot of a beautiful fish. You and bgarthe are really making me want to keep those again.
I don't make my living as a photographer anymore but here's a quick tip for shooting fish-film them instead and extract the perfect still.

I painted the tank back black 15 years ago, and there he was. I was trying to get a shot of Chromidotilapia kingsleyae. That's how I work as a photographer, via pure luck and clearly, through longterm advance planning. How did you get such a completely black background? That is really the perfect shot.
